Mom Jeans

I used to consider myself a denim expert.  Working in retail for the past twelve years and selling designer jeans, you learn a thing or two about denim.  I knew every style, wash, rise, and leg opening each brand made.  If you read me a random style number, I'm sure I could tell you which brand it was from and the cut of the jean.  When a customer walked into the store,  I would immediately know which jeans would fit them best, and what size they would need.  Being out of the game for over a year now, I'm sure there are a ton new styles and washes I don't know about, so I've lost my title as denim expert.  What I do know though, is that I would NEVER let one of my customers leave the store with a pair of jean that fit like mine do in these photos!

These JBrand Maria high rise jeans are my favorite and have been worn a little too much, as you can tell in these photos.  They are faded, stretched out, and as all my friends tell me, they are too big!  Although they do look a little dumpy on me, I have to admit, I'm kind of digging the look.  Between the high rise, which I love, and the bagginess, they have a little mom jean feel.  I even have a mom butt in them, ha!  When worn right, the mom jean look can look very chic, so I though I'd give it a try. To make the look work, I kept my outfit simple by tucking in a basic black top and wearing flats.  Now, it's obviously  time to replace these jeans.

This statement necklace was part of my Rocksbox set, and love it!  I think every woman should have a statement necklace in her jewelry box because it can easily change the look of an outfit.  They add interest to an otherwise plain outfit, or can really dress up your look.  I love how this necklace looked paired with my black top.  It dressed up my tank so I could wear it to dinner with friends and didn't feel under dressed.  And these earrings, I haven't taken them off since my box arrived!
