Rachael's Radar: The Leather Jacket (Fall Essential)

If you haven't noticed by now, I have an obsession with leather jackets.  They are the one item I believe every woman should invest in for the fall and winter.  Not only do they add the perfect amount of warmth on a cool day, but they are the epitome of cool.  They can toughen up a feminine dress, or add polish to a tee shirt and jeans.  Over the years I have built a little collection of leather jackets, and to this day, I still wear my very first one.  It's a red moto jacket that I bought for myself in college, and all my friends teased me I looked like Michael Jackson wearing it.  I did not care though because I loved it, and still do today (I should really give it an appearance on the blog).  Just like all my other leathers, since it's a classic I am still able to wear it 13 years later.  Although I do believe the money spent on a leather jacket is worth it, as the cost per wear will quickly pay off, they can get quiet pricey.  If your're not ready to make the splurge, there are some great faux/vegan leather options out there.  An I do have to admit, half my collection is faux leather!

Styling tip: Living in New England, it gets too cold in the winter to wear my leather jackets as outerwear.  This is when I start to wear them as a sweater or blazer.  When I head out the door, I simply through my winter coat on over them.
