Happy Hump Day!  Can you believe that we are half way through the week, and Memorial Day is just a few days away?  Memorial weekend is always one of my favorites, because it's like a big kick off party for the summer.  It means that it's time to break out the swimsuits and denim cut offs, open up the grill, and start drinking frosé. (PS I've never actually had frosé before, I know right, but I'll be making it this weekend).  I'll be heading up to the lake for a couple of days, and wanted to share what I will be packing, along with my six essentials for the holiday weekend (which all happen to make the perfect summer outfit).

1.  A gingham top.  If you don't own a gingham top yet, I highly suggest that you go get one!  I love the classic summer vibe they give off, which makes them perfect for the holiday weekend.  I just got this cute peplum top, and can't wait pair it with my white jeans or denim shorts.

2. Denim cut offs.  You know I live in my jeans, so for the days it's too hot to wear pants, I always reach for my denim shorts.  I love their relaxed vibe, and cool girl feel.  They make the perfect pairing with bathing suits for a day at the beach, or pair them with a cute tee for a summer barbecue.

3. A one piece swimsuit.  I've really been into one piece suits lately.  There's just something about them that is so classy yet sexy at the same time.  Not to mention, they help hide that baby pouch that is still lingering around two years later!  I really need to update my swimwear collection this summer, and am thinking of adding this ruffled top one, and this cutout one to my wardrobe.

4. An oversize hat.  Not only are they super chic, but they protect your face from the sun which is something I started to do now that I'm in my thirties.  There are so many cute options, and I'm loving this Beach Babe one that is under $20.

5. A straw tote.  Nothing says summer more than a straw bag.  I love how they can be used as a daytime tote, but also make the perfect beach bag.  I'm in love with this tassel bag and this pom pom bag and they are both under $30!

6. Pom pom sandals.  I am a hug fan of the tassel and pom pom trend this season, especially when they are on sandals, and love the fun touch they add to an outfit.  I didn't want to spend a lot of money on such a trendy item, so I found this pair for under $30 and have been wearing them nonstop.  

7.  And of course, none of my summer looks would be complete without the perfect pair of sunglasses.  I personally love wearing aviators for a day at the beach, and this oversized pair will be my next purchase.
