How to Buy A Designer Dress For Less

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of attending a lake side wedding.  Knowing that the wedding would have a laid back feel, I wanted to wear a dress that was easy, yet fun.  Not having anything that I wanted to wear in my closet, I turned to my friends at Best Dressed.  If you have been following this blog for some time, you know that I'm a big fan of renting dresses for special occasions, and Best Dressed is my go-to place to do just so.  I love that I can go to the store, try on a bunch of dresses, and leave with a rental that fits perfectly.  However, did you know that Best Dressed also sells their dresses?  Although the store is known for rentals, each season they have a wide selection of dresses that you are able to purchase at deep discounts.  It's the perfect way to purchase a designer dress at a very affordable price.  Yes, the dresses are used, and probably from the previous season, but they're always in great condition  Plus, unlike shopping at Ebay or Poshmark (trust me, I love those sites too), you can actually try on the dress, making sure it fits well, and examine it for any damages.

When I stopped into Best Dressed looking for the wedding, I had every intention of renting, until I saw this Rebecca Taylor strapless dress hanging on the sale rack, and fell in love.  Normally, this dress would cost somewhere around $400, but I was able to buy it for $50!  Not only was it perfect for the wedding (and super comfortable to wear), but I love the detailing and the fact that it has pockets.  I'm thinking it will also be a perfect option for any upcoming holiday parties.

Because it was a summer wedding, I wanted to keep my look light, so I paired my strapless dress with my nude block heels and beige Lauren Ralph Lauren bag.  Normally, I would use my small beige Chanel for a wedding, but since I was carrying my camera, a pashmina (since it gets chilly at the lake), and a pair of flats (just in case), I decided to use this satchel instead, and found it to be dressy enough, while fitting everything that I needed.  I then finished my look with a bold pink lip, which I thought added a fun touch.  By the way, I never ended up changing into my flats.  Not only did I have to walk a distance (and on a dirt path) from the ceremony to the reception, but I danced the entire night and my feet didn't bother me once!  These heels are so comfortable, and also come in black, which I think I need to get!
