Hello July! I still can't believe that June is behind us, and we'll be celebrating the 4th this week! And while I'm talking about disbelief, the twins turn five tomorrow. Five! They say time flies after you have kids, and it's so true! While I'm happy that we're in the midst of summer, the sad thing is that I still haven't fully switched out my closet from spring to summer, and most of my swimwear and sundresses are still in bins. I think it's time to get on top of that, especially since I'm headed to the lake this week. So, as I'm currently in the middle of putting my summer wardrobe together, I thought that I'd share my summer staples, all which are perfect for spending the holiday week at the lake.
A lightweight Tank
I always like to add new tanks to my wardrobe in the summer, and the lighter the material, the better. This linen one has been a staple in my wardrobe and I love how I can dress it up or wear it casually.
White Jeans
Although a lot of my summer is spent in shorts, I do constantly get cold, especially in air conditioning. So white, and a light pair of jeans are a must in my wardrobe. I also love how white can be dressed up, making them perfect for a night out.
Waterproof(ish) Sandals
I'm all about easy sandals that I can just slip on, but being around water, I want to make sure that they won't get ruined if they get wet! I love adding cute, inexpensive (just in case they do get ruined) sandals to my summer wardrobe, and have found some great plastic ones that are perfect for the beach.
A White Summer Cardigan
As I mentioned before, I'm that girl who is always cold, so each summer I find myself adding a new lightweight sweater to my wardrobe. I love how a crisp white sweater goes with everything, and this cardigan is my newest obsession. Not only is the quality great, but it's perfect for throwing on over tanks, or looks great layered over dresses.
High Waist Bikini Or One Piece Swimsuit
Since most of my days at the beach are spent chasing around twin boys, I need a swimsuit that not only feels comfortable, but also holds everything in! I love that one piece swimsuits are back in style. Plus there are so many cute, slightly sexy, styles that are mom friendly. I'm also thankful for high waist bottoms as they've allowed me to wear bikinis again. They're able to suck everything in, and cover that extra jiggle!
A Pop Of Red
And of course, since it's the 4th of July, I always love adding a pop of red to my outfit with an accessory. Whether it's fun pair of earrings, a red lip, or a scarf, a little red makes a big statement!
